A domestic farce about secrets, reputation and the terrible consequences of trying to keep a straight face. Martin and Caroline have been married for 18 years. To everyone outside the house, they are the perfect couple: respectable, successful, generous and deeply involved in their neighbourhood. Inside the house, however, things are rather different. Their marriage has become a carefully maintained performance. They don't argue because they have perfected the art of not telling each other things. Then, one evening, Caroline receives a phone call that changes everything. Her elderly mother has died and Caroline discovers that her mother has left her a letter containing a shocking secret about Caroline's family. Before Caroline can read the entire letter, someone steals it. And then the doorbell rings. It's the police.Except they're not here about Caroline's mother. They're investigating Martin. Martin has absolutely no idea why. And Caroline suddenly has a very good reason not to tell him.
